    Who made Hindsight, how, and the licence.

    Hindsight is made by Hardline Interactive, the studio of Taylor Gibbs, with Claude Code (AI), Anthropic’s AI coding assistant. Claude wrote the code, the icon (drawn by a script it wrote) and this guide, under Taylor’s direction. We’d rather you knew.

    File formats

    Hindsight has its own replay format. It reads ReplayMod and Flashback replays, and can save to both, keyframes and markers included. Both were implemented independently from their file layouts. Hindsight contains no code from either mod.

    ReplayMod and Flashback are made by their own authors, who have nothing to do with Hindsight. Please don’t send them reports about Hindsight.

    • Stonecutter by KikuGie, which lets one codebase build Hindsight for every Minecraft version and both mod loaders.
    • NeoForge, and Fabric with Fabric API.
    • JCodec, BSD licence, for the built-in MP4 encoder. It’s included in the mod.
    • FFmpeg is optional: if you have it installed, video export uses it for smaller, sharper files. Hindsight doesn’t include it.
