    Getting started

    Install Last Words and see your first death recap. Who killed you, every hit, what your armour stopped, and the way back to your stuff.

    Last Words is a death recap, in the spirit of League of Legends and Dark Souls. When you die, the death screen shows what happened in your last seconds: who killed you and with what, every hit you took, how much your armour stopped, what you dealt back, and what would have saved you. After you respawn, an arrow points you back to your stuff.

    It runs on NeoForge and Fabric for Minecraft 1.21.1, 1.21.11 and 26.2, and on Fabric for 26.3.

    What’s in it

    • The recap beside the death screen’s buttons: your killer, their weapon and health, the damage per source, what was stopped, every hit, the damage you dealt and where you died.
    • Next time: up to two tips on what would have saved you, worked out from the hits you really took.
    • The arrow back to where you died, with a countdown until your items despawn, pointing at your grave instead if a grave mod made one.
    • Sharing: post your death to chat in one line, with the whole recap in the hover.
    • Your history: /lastwords shows your last 10 deaths, and who or what kills you most.
    • For admins: /lastwords <player> shows anyone’s last death.
    • The death replay: the last 3 seconds again, the final half second in slow motion.
    • Works with any modpack: optional on both sides, with modded mobs, modded damage and grave mods.

    Installing

    1. Install NeoForge or Fabric for your Minecraft version. On Fabric, add Fabric API too.
    2. Get Last Words from CurseForge: add it to a profile in the CurseForge app, or download the jar for your version and loader and put it in your mods folder.
    3. For the full recap on a server, the server needs Last Words as well. It isn’t required: players without it can join a server that has it, and you can join servers without it. See servers and modpacks for what works where.

    In singleplayer, your game is the server too, so you get everything.

    Your first recap

    1. Die. A zombie, a fall, some lava: anything will do.
    2. The recap opens beside the death screen’s buttons. On a small window there isn’t room, so press the ☠ Last Words tab in the top corner to open it over the screen (click outside it or the × to close it).
    3. Hover a source or a hit for its details, press Copy for your coordinates, ▶ Replay to watch it again, or Share to post it to chat.
    4. Respawn and follow the arrow at the top of the screen back to your items before they despawn.

    Missed something? /lastwords shows the recap of your last death again any time.
