Commands and settings
Every Last Words command (/lastwords, hide, share, settings and the admin view) and every client and server setting, with defaults.
Commands
| Command | Who | What it does |
|---|---|---|
/lastwords |
Everyone | Your recent deaths in this world or on this server, newest first. |
/lastwords hide |
Everyone | Takes the arrow back to where you died away. |
/lastwords share |
Everyone | Posts your last death to chat, the same as the Share button. |
/lastwords settings |
Everyone | Opens the settings screen. |
/lastwords <player> |
Operators | Another player’s last death since the server started. |
/lastwords: your history
/lastwords opens your last 10 deaths in this world or on this server, newest first (“Death 3 of 3 · just now”). The arrows page back through them, and underneath it says who or what has killed you most (“Killed most by Zombie (2)”).
Your history is kept in your own game, in tglastwords/history/ in the game folder, so it works on any server. Without Last Words in your game, the server answers instead with your last death in chat.
/lastwords share
Posts your death to chat for everyone. On a server with Last Words it’s one line with the whole recap in the hover, made from the server’s own copy so it can’t be faked, and you can share once every shareCooldownSeconds. See sharing.
/lastwords <player>: the admin view
For “why did I die?” on modded servers. An operator (permission level adminPermission, 2 by default) sees another player’s last death since the server started, even if they’ve logged off: on the recap screen if the operator has Last Words, or in chat if not.
Your settings
In game: type /lastwords settings, or on NeoForge go to Mods, Last Words, Config. Or edit config/tglastwords-client.toml.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Show the recap when I die | On | The recap panel at all. |
| Seconds to show | 10 (1-30) | How far back the recap goes. The server can allow less. |
| Side of the death screen | Right | Which side the panel sits on. |
| Show damage in hearts | Off | Hearts instead of health points (one heart is two points). |
| List every hit | On | The list of hits. |
| Put where I died in chat | On | The chat line with your coordinates. |
| Point back to where I died | On | The arrow back after you respawn. |
Replay my deaths (replay) |
On | Records the last few seconds for the death replay. Off: no recording, no replay. |
Server settings
In config/tglastwords-server.toml in the server folder (created with the defaults the first time it starts). In singleplayer they’re also in the settings screen, under Server settings.

Tell players how much health their killer had left. |
shareLocation |

Tell players where they died. |

On a PvP server you might turn off shareKillerHealth (so nobody learns how close they came) or shareLocation.
