    Questions and fixes

Answers to common Block Band questions, from notes feeling late and missing songs to microphones, controllers and bands.

The notes feel early or late

Run Calibrate from the Block Band menu and press Space on every click. It measures your speaker or headphone delay and adjusts every song. Wireless headphones especially add delay.

    I can’t hear the music

Block Band plays on Minecraft’s Jukebox/Note Blocks volume slider. Check it’s turned up in Options › Music & Sounds.

My song isn’t on the list

Press Reload on the song list. If it still isn’t there, look at the orange line under the list and hover over it: it says what’s wrong with each song that couldn’t load. The most common fix is converting the audio to OGG.

A song is greyed out and says “Not stream-safe”

Streamer mode is on, and nobody has marked that song as safe to stream. See Streaming safely.

The Band button is greyed out

Bands need Block Band on the server too. On a server without it you can still play songs on your own.

    My friend can’t press Ready

Their game is probably still downloading the server song the leader picked (they’ll see the progress on the Band screen). Or they have Streamer mode on and the song isn’t stream-safe.

    The vocals don’t hear me

Open Microphone in the Block Band menu and sing a note: you should see the level move and the note you’re singing. If not, pick your microphone from the list. On Windows, also check that desktop apps are allowed to use the microphone in Settings › Privacy & security › Microphone.

My band can’t hear me sing

Other players hear you through Simple Voice Chat. Check the line under the vocals lane: it tells you if voice chat is off, muted, or waiting for your push-to-talk key.

    My controller doesn’t do anything

Open Controllers in the Block Band menu. If your controller is listed but its buttons show “(none)”, press Change next to each action and press the button you want. If it isn’t listed at all, Minecraft can’t see it: try another USB port or reconnect it.

Can I play on a server that doesn’t have Block Band?

Yes, on your own. Bands, server songs, top scores and the stage blocks need it on the server.
