FAQ
Common questions about Sleepers.
Do players need the mod?
No. Sleepers goes on the server only. Everything players see is made of things Minecraft already knows how to show, so vanilla, NeoForge and Fabric players all see sleepers, and the server never asks anyone for the mod.
Can sleepers be killed, robbed or pushed around?
No. They aren’t real entities on the server, just a picture sent to nearby players’ games. Nothing can hurt or push them, and they don’t block anything.
Can I still use my bed if someone’s asleep in it?
Yes. Right-click the sleeper once for their card, then again within 10 seconds to use the bed. Breaking the bed works too (break the foot end), and the sleeper goes away.
Do sleepers count towards skipping the night?
No. The server doesn’t know they’re there, so they aren’t in the player count, the tab list or the sleeping count.
Will sleepers show up on my minimap?
No. Xaero’s Minimap and World Map, JourneyMap and FTB Chunks don’t show them, so an offline player never looks like someone online.
Why is my sleeper lying on the ground?
You’ve never slept in a bed on this server, your bed was broken, your respawn point is a respawn anchor, or someone else’s sleeper is already in your bed. The server can also switch ground sleepers off.
Why is a sleeper wearing a default skin?
On an offline-mode server without a skin mod, the server doesn’t have players’ skins, so a sleeper wears the same default skin the player’s own character shows. Online-mode servers, and offline-mode servers with a skin mod like SkinsRestorer, show the real skin.
Can I hide my sleeper?
Yes: type /sleepers optout. Server owners can also show sleepers only to teammates: see Servers.
How long do sleepers stay?
Until the player is back, or 30 days by default (maxAgeDays). After two weeks the label gives the date they were last seen instead of how long ago.
Does it work in singleplayer?
There’s nothing to see in singleplayer: when you log off, the world closes with you. Sleepers is made for servers.
Was it made with AI?
Yes. Sleepers was vibe coded with Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI coding assistant: Claude wrote the code from Taylor’s ideas, testing and feedback.
